Summer

1. Blueberries For Sal

This recipe for Blueberry Olive Oil Cake by Alison Roman is a summer staple. Breakfast, snack, beachside, dessert. You get the idea. :)

2. A Tisket, A Tasket

Is it a purse, is it a picnic basket, a hostess gift with a bottle of wine and a nice sunscreen? Who cares, it’s cute and whatever you want it to be! Here ya go friends.

3. Hammock Time

Kin by Tayari Jones was my last month’s book club pick and I loved it so much. It is beyond beautifully written and such a raw story of a childhood friendship and how it evolves between two young girls. The choices they make in what they pursue, who they fall in love with, and how no matter what, due to the times they live in, there are great odds stacked against them. There are lots of layers and I could talk about it for days so please read it so we can chat.

4. In It To Win It

Around these parts, people take their tennis very seriously. I however, am not one of those people. I like casual hitting, cute outfits, and prefer not keeping score. Ha. My friends also tease me about my racquet. It is old and has a real ratty, worn grip. I secretly sort of like it that way but maybe it is time to upgrade my game to this cool Wilson so at least I’ll look the part - even if I still don’t want to play in a real match?

5. Yesteryear

There is just something about this seersucker plaid maxi skirt from Bernadette that I love so so much. To me, it harks back to a time before when there were no screens. Only the music from a big band and a few glasses of chilled champagne and maybe some cards to entertain you. I long to go back to a life where we can slow down and just enjoy the simplicity of a summer night and not feel the need to post it for all to see.

6. Building A Collection

Of course, because of my work, I use a lot of pitchers, so I have become somewhat of a collector of them. However, the ironstone ones are particularly appealing to me because they are timeless and to me, beautiful in their shape and design. Each one is slightly different but they all fall in the same vein. Please let me know if you spot any while you are out and about this summer to add to my collection!

6. Tis’ The Season To Entertain

Everyone can always use some fresh table linens and I love these from Rebecca Udall.
